What does this part do?

This light seal blocks potential light leaks through the hinge end of the film chamber.

Examples of why this part commonly fails or needs replacing?

  1. Most commonly the original light seals perish over time and need replacing
  2. Currently fitted light seals are compressed or not working effectively
  3. Currently fitted light seal is not the correct type / material

Difficulty Level 1 – Owner-Safe Parts: simple cosmetic or mechanical replacements most users can fit.

What tools are required?

  1. Small tool to scrape away old light seal (preferably plastic)
  2. Nail Varnish Remover to dissolve the glue and gunk left by the old light seal
  3. Cocktail stick to  scrape away remnants of old seal from hinge area
  4. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or Lighter Fluid to clean the surface ready to accept the new light seal.
