Here’s why this very special camera is a fantastic birthday gift idea and how you can find one with a special connection to your birthdate.
The Charm of the Olympus Trip 35
Manufactured between 1967 and 1984, the Olympus Trip 35 has stood the test of time. Its fully automatic exposure system, compact design, and ease of use made it a favourite among amateur photographers and professionals. With a simple yet robust design, the Trip 35 is perfect for anyone looking to delve into the world of analogue photography or add a classic piece to their collection.
Discover Your Camera’s Birthdate
Every Olympus Trip 35 camera has a unique manufacturing date stamped inside, located on the film pressure plate. This date indicates the month and year the camera was made, allowing you to find one that shares your birth month or the birth month of someone you know. Owning a camera from your birth month and year adds a personal touch, turning it into a cherished keepsake and a very thoughtful gift idea.

Why a Vintage Camera Makes the Perfect Gift.
Timeless Appeal: Unlike modern gadgets that quickly become outdated, a vintage camera like the Olympus Trip 35 retains its charm and functionality for decades. It will also increase in value and potentially be a hand me down gift for someone special in the future.
Personal Connection: Owning a camera made in the same month and year as your birth creates a unique bond with a piece of photographic history. There is a connection that you both share in the history of time.
Sustainable Choice: Restoring and reusing vintage cameras is an eco-friendly option, reducing electronic waste and promoting sustainable practices.
Creative Inspiration: Shooting with film encourages a more thoughtful approach to photography, making each shot more intentional and meaningful.
Every camera we sell has a Date Of Manufacture sticker inside the film compartment – making it easy to see when the camera was “born”
How to Purchase
To find out more about each camera and to make a purchase, visit our website where you can view detailed photos, descriptions, and prices of cameras that have already been serviced and ready for sale. These cameras are stated by a defined colour.
Cameras that are in my workshop are described as “Choose your Colour”. These cameras are ready to be serviced and sold but have not been listed on the website yet. If you see a camera you like in this category, then drop me a line at [email protected] and I’ll send you some more details about that specific camera. These cameras also have the option of retaining the original black cover or being re-covered in a colour of your choice.
If you have a particular month and year in mind that I do not have available now – just let me know and I will try and source one for you.
I sell a lot of cameras as birthday gifts and the people buying describe that the gift is more than just giving a camera; it’s sharing a piece of history and a personal connection with a little thought and attention about the person being bought for.
